NICO SUBSIDIARIES GIVE K6M TO COM

NICO Life and NICO Pensions, subsidiaries of NICO Holdings Limited, yesterday donated K6 million to College of Medicine (CoM) to support the institution facilitate online education.

The college intends to roll out online classes but 267 of its undergraduate students had no gadgets to help them access online platforms.

The school then embarked on the initiative to mobilise resources to buy laptops or tablets to distribute to the students.

NICO Pensions General Manager, Gerald Chima, said assisting the institution is important, especially now when the world is dealing with the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“It is no secret that the Covid -19 pandemic has left no industry untouched, with everyone being affected in one way or another. That is why when CoM reached us for assistance in procuring laptops to facilitate e-leaming, we did not hesitate.” Chima said.

CoM Principal, Mwapatsa Mipando. commended  the firms for the support, saying the donation will cover the current need and allow the school to start online classes this week.

We have a number of needy students. This donation will go a long way in ensuring that the students are adequately equipped to continue with their studies,” Mipando said.

He said that the initiative will continue as other students may be in the same need especially those  that borrow gadgets to have access to the internet.
