NICO DONATES MK10 MILLION TO MALAWI LIVERPOOL WELCOME TRUST

NICO Group has donated K10 million to the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust to be channeled towards the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers across the country.

Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony in Blantyre over the weekend, NICO Pension General Manager

Gerald Chima said, even though the cases are going down, there is no need to relax in the fight against Covid.

Chima added that there was a need for different sectors of the society to put all hands on deck in fighting the pandemic.

“Covid is not something to play with and, when it hits, it is devastating to everyone.

Therefore, it is important that all of us should take part in the fight and very important also that many people should be vaccinated,” Chima said.

Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust Director Stephen Gordon said the need for PPE in health facilities and among health workers is huge.

He thanked NICO Group for the donation, saying it will go a long way in helping in the fight against the pandemic.

“The need for PPE for everyone helping in the fight is very huge. Therefore, I want to thank Nico for the donation

and it will be used to keep our healthcare workers safe,” Gordon said.

Since the advent of the pandemic, Nico Group has made numerous donations which have now amounted to more than K200 million.
